What goes in it

Every change order from ReportDraft follows the same professional structure, so clients and reviewers find things where they expect them.

  • Reason for the changeOne to three sentences from the notes on why the change is needed: who asked for it, what was found or decided, and any reference the notes give (an RFI, a drawing revision, a site instruction, an inspector's direction). Never invent a reference or a reason.
  • Description of the changeThe work added, removed or changed, by location and trade, with the quantities, sizes, materials and specifications the notes give, in plain contract language ("Supply and install ...", "Delete ..."). Say what is excluded if the notes say so. Never state amounts: the cost breakdown and the contract sum table show them.
  • Cost breakdownItem, Labour, material, equipment or other, Quantity, Amount
  • Schedule impactOne or two sentences from the notes on the change in contract time and why, and the new completion date if given. If the notes say the time does not change, say so. If the notes say nothing about time, write "No change to the contract time is requested."

How it works

1. Add your notes. Type or paste what you saw. Rate items with one tap if you like.

2. Get a draft. Findings, recommendations and a summary are written for you, in your report's structure.

3. Check, sign, send. A completeness list shows anything missing. Sign to lock the PDF and download Word too.

Questions

What goes in a change order?

The signed agreement to change the work during a project: what is added, removed or changed and why, each cost with the credits, the change in contract time, and the contract sum before and after, worked out to the cent. ReportDraft lays it out in 4 sections: reason for the change, description of the change, cost breakdown, schedule impact.

Do my province or territory's rules change the report?

Pick your province or territory when you start. Where we have checked a local requirement against official sources, it is added to your completeness list with a link to the source.

Can I edit the draft?

Yes. Every finding, rating and sentence is editable before you sign. Your own entries always win over anything drafted from your notes.

What do I get at the end?

A signed, locked PDF for your client and an editable Word file, both with your company details. Signed reports keep a fingerprint so later changes are visible.

Which plan covers it?

ReportDraft Construction covers a change order along with site safety inspections, incident reports. Daily Construction Reports is also sold on its own.
