The Pesticide Sales, Handling, Use and Application Regulation adds fumigation and transport rules. Here is each rule with a link to the official text.

The record, by the end of the day

By the end of the day of an application, record who it was for, where, the date and time, the pest and purpose, each product's common or trade name and PCP registration number, the application rate, the total quantity and the method. Outside a building, add the temperature, humidity, precipitation and wind, and note the location and distance of any use within 30 metres of open water.

Copies and retention

An applicator working under someone's pesticide service registration sends the holder a copy of each record within 15 days, and both keep records at least five years.

Registration, insurance and assistants

Offering a pesticide service with scheduled products takes a pesticide service registration for that class of activity and a certified applicator. Registration holders carry insurance under the Environmental Code of Practice for Pesticides, and assistants are trained and supervised under it.

Fumigation and transport

Before a fumigation, clear and secure the area and any unit sharing a floor, ceiling or wall, post warning signs at every entrance, have two adults present, and notify affected occupants. Never carry groceries in a vehicle with scheduled pesticides or their containers.

From the truck to a finished Alberta record

Note the time, each product's PCP number, rate and total, how you applied it, and the weather for outside work. ReportDraft completes the Alberta record the same day, ready to pass to the registration holder.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving the record until the next day.
  • No humidity in the outdoor weather.
  • Missing PCP registration numbers.
  • Not passing a copy to the service registration holder within 15 days.
  • Keeping records less than five years.
